Who is United Martial Arts of Maryland? (UMAM)
United Martial Arts of Maryland is a group of karate enthusiasts in Jacksonville, Baltimore County and in Hampden, Baltimore City, Maryland. The group first met in March of 2004.
Notice to all Carroll Manor Students: Classes will start on Saturday, March 29th, with Sparring Class at 12:00 PM (Noon).
Notice to all Hampden Students: Classes are now Monday and Wednesday nights, effective 12 October. First Class for the New year will be Monday, January 7th.

Uniform Prices will change as of 9 December, 2006.
Standard white uniforms will be $30.00, black uniforms will be $35.00 with an additional $5.00 charge for sizes past size 6.
What Style of Martial Arts is UMAM?
UMAM's style of karate is a mix of American Kenpo Karate, Tang Soo Do, Ju Jitsu (Chin Na) and Judo.
What are the Belt ranks?
There are 9 ranks, which are: White, Advanced White, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Blue, Green, Brown and Black. There are additional ranks for children under the age of 12. Average time for earning a Black Belt is about 5 to 7 years.
What equipment is needed to study?
No special equipment is needed at first. You can begin studying with just sweat pants and a t-shirt. Uniforms, which are purchased through the school, are required before the first belt test. As training progresses, other equipment required can also be purchased through the school.
